The VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) has made it a priority to ensure that all women Veterans receive equitable, high-quality, and comprehensive health care services.

Programs and services were created to further the wholeness of women Veterans, physically, spiritually, and mentally while safeguarding their well being. Below are some of services that the VA Palo Alto offers:

The VAPAHCS Women Veterans

CalVet

The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) works to serve California veterans and their families.

With nearly 1.8 million veterans living in the State, CalVet strives to ensure that its veterans of every era and their families get the state and federal benefits and services they have earned and deserve as a result of selfless and honorable military service. CalVet strives to serve veterans and their families with dignity and compassion and to help them achieve their highest quality of life.

California Women Veterans division provides information, advocate, outreach, and support Women Veterans and their families. California has nearly 145,000 women who served in the U.S military and the number are still rising.

They have served in every major U.S conflict and peacetime since the Revolutionary War and for this they are owed a great debt of gratitude. Women Veterans are family members, friends, business owners, professionals, community leaders and advocates.

Womens Trauma Recovery Program

The Women's Trauma Recovery Program (WTRP) is an intensive residential program with a strong emphasis on enhancing interpersonal functioning and building skills to cope with distress through classes that focus on the development of approach-oriented coping skills, such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, effective interpersonal communication, relapse prevention, and exposure therapy.

It is the first and longest standing program of its kind and is open to women across the country.

Womens Clinic

There is the VA Palo Alto Women's Health Center that provides comprehensive primary care in addition to an array of additional services to meet the needs of women Veterans. Services include, but not limited to: 

  • Gynecological Care
  • Reproductive health care
  • Comprehensive breast care clinic
  • Mental Health Services
  • And more

GI Josie provides non-clinical programs and support to women veterans ( and their children) who endure PTSD and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) by creating a transitional ranch community on which our women veterans and their children can live and Heal&Conquer from their service borne traumas.
